Dmitry Skurikhin, known for his anti-war inscriptions on the facade of his shop, was released from the colony where he spent 1.6 years on charges of "discrediting" the army.
Skurikhin was in penal colony No. 5 in the settlement of Metallostroy. He was met by his family and journalists on his way out, the "Bumaga" publication reported.
Skurikhin placed political and anti-war slogans on the facade of his shop in the village of Russko-Vysotskoye. After the outbreak of war, the inscription "Peace to Ukraine, freedom to Russia" appeared there, followed by the names of Ukrainian towns affected by Russian shelling.
In May 2022, he was fined 45,000 rubles for an anti-war video in his Telegram channel, accusing him of "discrediting" the Russian Armed Forces. On 24 February 2023, he went out to a shop with a poster "Sorry, Ukraine", after which he was detained the next day and accused of "discrediting" the army again.
